Everything needed for registering as a Merit Badge
Counselor is finally here! To become a Merit Badge Counselor, two forms are
Adult Leader Application
A separate registration form for your status as a Merit
Badge Counselor is required even if you are already
registered with a unit. However, you do not have to be
affiliated with a unit in order to register as a Merit Badge Counselor.
When completing an application for this purpose, please note:
- There is no cost to register as a Merit Badge Counselor.
- Unit Signatures are not required on your application (the Council will sign these fields for this application)
- You must provide your Social Security Number on the application so your background check can be performed.

here. Be sure you specify whether you wish to work
specifically with one unit or are open to work with Scouts from all units.
When your Adult Leader Application and Merit Badge Counselor
Information Sheet are completed, send them to the Blackhawk Area Council Office in
Rockford. Be sure to keep copies of your forms.
Note: Your name and contact information will not be posted on the Sycamore District Website
until your application is processed by the Council and sent to the
District Advancement Committee.
