To All Unit Scouters:
Everything that you wanted to know about registering as a
Merit Badge Counselor is finally here.
To become a Merit Badge Counselor two forms are necessary to
be filled out.

Adult Leader Application.

Yes, even if you are already registered with a unit,
another form must be filled out. Merit Badge Counselors go on a separate
charter from your unit and in order to be a counselor a new application
must be completed. We do have counselors who are not affiliated with a
unit.

There is no cost to register as a Me Badge Counselor.

You do not have to have Unit signatures on your
Application.

You must provide your Social Security information,
answer all the questions and sign your application

If you wish to be listed with your unit for the Web site
please make sure you indicate this on the top of the form by checking
unit and adding number.

It is important on this sheet to indicate if you wish to
work specifically with one Unit or if you wish to work with any and/or
all Units.

Don't forget to indicate what Merit Badge(s) you wish to
work with.
When your Adult Leader Application and Merit Badge Counselor
Information Sheet are completed send it in to the Council Office in
Rockford. It is a good idea to make copies and keep them with your unit.
This way each unit will have their own records.
How long until my name is posted on the Merit badge
counselor page at www.sycamorebsa.org? Well, this is a tricky question.
Council inputs your information into the system when it is received. Your
information is then given to the advancement committee approximately once a
month. The website is updated quarterly. So, you see it can take a while. If
you haven't seen your name on the list and you are wondering, then you can
email
MeritBadgeAdultCoordinator and they can let you know if your information
was received from Council.
In the past, we have received complaints from units, who
have filled out both forms and counselor's names are still not on the web.
We can only put in information that has been received front Council. In this
situation, the best thing to do is f ill out both forms again and we will
get you in the system as quickly as possible. We apologize for any
inconvenience that this may cause you. We are doing the best we can.
Enclosed you will find the most current Web listing for each
unit, please check it over. Let us know if there are changes that need to be
made, if the Scouters that are listed are no longer with your unit or they
no longer wish to be listed. Currently, there are some Counselors listed on
the web site. However, we do not have a unit to place them with. If you have
specific information please contact us and we will change this as soon as
possible. You can e mail them directly at
MeritBadgeAdultCoordinator or you can also use the Website and click on
Advancement chair, the information will then be sent to Rick Delaney.
