Cub Scout camping mostly consists of family camping. However some packs units enjoy overnight
cabin camping during the colder months.
Boy Scout camping is the next level of camping. Most troops camp throughout the year.
Some units boast that they'll camp in any weather.
Wienke Campership Fund
Sycamore District is honored to
have the Wienke Campership Fund. The fund is in
memory of Bob Wienke, a long-time Scouter who
died in 1993. He was active in the Scouting
program for over 50 years. He served as District
Commissioner, District Committee, Training and
especially Camp Lowden Staff. It is this
experience which endeared Camp Lowden to Bob.
Bob believed deeply that no scout
should be deprived of the camp experience because
of a lack of funds. It is for these reasons the
Wienke Campership Fund was started. Each
year these camperships are given to Cub Scouts,
Webelos, and Boy Scouts who cant afford
camp. It is simply a matter of the leader
(Cubmaster or Scoutmaster) filling out the form
and turning it into Jeff Moritz. Forms are
available for Day Camp, Resident Camp at Camp
Lowden or Boy Scout Summer Camp at Camp Lowden.
If awarded a campership, the scout is required
to pay 50% of the cost of camp and the campership helps out by
paying the other 50%.
If you have any questions please
call Jeff Moritz at 847-639-9890. Here are the application
forms:
