Cold Weather Camping Course - Train the Trainer
This course's purpose is to enable the opportunity and provide for training/preparedness for the 4th season of safe and challenging camping

Blackhawk Area Council announces Okpik Cold Weather Camping Training For Troop Leaders, Senior Scouts, Venturers, and Troop Trainers Ages 14 & Up
This Train the Trainer program will provide you with the knowledge and materials to conduct winter camping training within your units. This program covers the skills and techniques that must be learned and the planning that must be done to ensure a successful, fun, and safe cold weather camping experience.
These include physical preparation, clothing, food and water, sanitation practices, first aid and emergency procedures, shelter and shelter building, methods of travel in snow, and making equipment.
Cold weather camping mistakes can be deadly. The skills learned in the Okpik Program will make cold weather camping an enjoyable, safe Scouting experience.

- October 15, 2011 (Classroom, 8:30 AM, St Edwards Parish School, Rockford, IL
- November 12, 2011 (Classroom, 8:30 AM, Camp Lowden, Oregon, IL)
- December 10, 2011 (Outdoor Classroom, 8:30 AM, Firehouse #2, Cherry Valley, IL)
- January 7, 2012 (Classroom, 8:30 AM, Camp Lowden, Oregon, IL)
- January 21 & 22, 2012 (Practical, Camping Weekend, Camp Lowden, Oregon, IL)
Course Fee: $75.00 (REGISTRATION CLOSES WED (10/12) at Midnight*)
* Unless other prior arrangements are made
(other food and gear costs may be required)
Camping Sessions at CAMP LOWDEN, BSA - Oregon, IL
Four Classroom/demonstration sessions and a practical outdoor campout are required to complete the course.
Course will be limited to 48 students.
