trainingThroughout the year, as a cub scout and as a boy scout, there will be numerous opportunities for boys to train harder if they want to. There are opportunities to earn different badges to show that they are working toward things and then there are training courses that they can take part in as well. This is part of what makes scouting so important to some kids, especially those that want to do more for their community while they are young.

Badges Earned

training for badgesThere are many badges available to boy scouts. Some may be for camping or hiking, backpacking through the woods, or perhaps even setting up camp successfully. There are badges available for kids who attempt to fix an issue at home or if they help out in the community in some way. There are astrology and aviation badges for things that they know a little bit about. Every child who joins can earn badges for their achievements and it does make them want to strive to earn more. However, some badges can only be earned with a little training and the help of a parent or troop leader that already knows what is expected of each scout.

The Training Courses Available

There are leader specific training groups that boys can take part of. Some of the courses are available to cub scouts and others are for older boy scouts. There are outdoor training opportunities for scouts that want to excel in that area. These events are held during the spring and summer months for the comfort of the scouts. Adults who choose to participate with their child in scouting events can also take the Wood Badge training course to learn what is entailed in helping scouts become better boy scouts. It is a course that is also available to some cub scouts who are also new to Blackhawk’s way of doing things.
